Our Community

Circa Cairns challenges traditional models of creating work to refine our own community centred creative process. Engaging with local mob we embed community collaboration into the core of our process. We create on country with formal and in formal workshops and yarns. We share our circus skills and stories with local youth and sit down for yarns with elders, all with the understanding that the reciprocal sharing of stories is a key feature of our creative process.

Over the past 12 months it has become apparent that community engagement is an essential part of our work. Connecting with First Nations Communities and other local First Nations organisations is vital to increase First Nations pathways and representation within the arts. We are focusing on delivering workshop programs across Far North Queensland and beyond, specifically with a focus on working with Indigenous youth!

If you are interested in having Circa Cairns come to your local community, event, school, organisation or venue to deliver workshops please do get in touch!
