Since 2013, Circa has managed arTour for the Queensland Government. Our committed team has delivered outstanding results for the sector. Over the last eight years arTour has produced 74 Queensland tours that have spent 2000+ days on the road, employed 596 artists who performed in 144 unique locations across the state. arTour has supported more than 200 Queensland productions to pitch at Queensland Touring Showcase and has worked directly with 42 local government areas and regional performing arts companies through Roadcase.
Nationally, arTour has toured 13 Queensland works, spent 831 days on the road, employed 126 artists who performed in 63 unique locations. Collectively arTour has engaged over 418,000 audiences and participants… and counting, 2021 is not over and there’s a few thousand kilometres to cover yet.
The Queensland Government recently announced a new structure for regional touring and sector development for 2022-2025 and have called for tenders to deliver it. Circa strongly supports open and contestable processes and welcomes the investment by the Government in making the arts available to all Queenslanders.
Circa has carefully considered the tender requirements and have decided not to proceed with a submission.
Circa will finish managing arTour at the end of 2021. We will update our clients and stakeholders of transfer arrangements to the new providers in the coming months. We look forward to continuing outstanding delivery of services for the remainder of 2021 and a seamless handover for the years ahead.
I would like to extend a special thank you to the arTour team for their brilliant work now and over the years and to pay a special tribute to Kate Fell whose vision brought arTour to us in the beginning.
We are grateful to have had the opportunity to serve the Queensland arts sector and regional audiences. arTour has be an important and valuable part of the Circa story and it will be missed.
